ROCB A/P Joins “Conference on Illegal Wildlife and Timber Trafficking” to Discuss How to Further Strengthen Cooperation in Combating Illegal Wildlife and Timber Trafficking within ASEAN

At the request of the WCO Secretariat, Mr. Takayuki Miyoshi, Program Manager for South Asia of the ROCB A/P, participated in the Conference on Illegal Wildlife and Timber Trafficking held on 7April 2015 in Bangkok, Thailand. The Conference was co-hosted by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and the Royal Thai Police, and attended by the representatives of the ASEAN countries and other related organizations such as ASEANPOL, Freeland Foundation, etc.

Delegates exchanged their opinions and information on illegal wildlife and timber trafficking especially on: (i) Harmonization of the legal framework in the ASEAN countries, and (ii) Information sharing among competent authorities of the ASEAN member countries. Mr. Miyoshi joined the panel discussion on the information sharing as a panelist and introduced the WCO’s information exchange platform named CENcomm for their reference.
