ROCB A/P Witnesses Thai Customs’ New Modernization Practice

At the invitation of the Thai Customs Department (TCD), Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of the ROCB A/P, and his ROCB A/P colleagues attended the Signing Ceremony for the Memorandum of Understanding on Electronic Payment of Customs Duties and Taxes, which was held on 23 July 2015 at the TCD Headquarters in Bangkok, Thailand. At the ceremony, in the wake of welcome speech and video presentation on the overview of the TCD, Mr. Chaiyut Kumkun, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport Passenger Control Customs Bureau gave an overview of the project’s background. After delivering his congratulatory speech, Dr. Somchai Sujjapongse, Director General of the TCD, signed the MOUs with high-ranking representatives of Krung Thai Bank and Kasikorn Bank respectively.  

The ROCB A/P was pleased to have witnessed this remarkable event and welcomes the introduction of this facilitated Customs procedure as part of the TCD’s continued effort to make it a world’s best and efficient Customs agency, in tandem with their recent accession to the Revised Kyoto Convention, which marked the 100th Contracting Party to it, under the initiative of Dr. Somchai. The electronic payment will be started on 1 September 2015 at the Suvarnabhumi Airport for air passengers, and this facilitated measure will be introduced to the other international airports and checkpoints as well in the near future.
