Ad-hoc Study Meeting with Thai Suvarnabhumi Airport Customs

At the request of the Thai Customs Department’s Suvarnabhumi Airport Passenger Control Customs Bureau, Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of the ROCB A/P had an ad-hoc study meeting with Mr. Chaiyut Kumkun, Director of Suvarnabhumi Airport Passenger Control Customs Bureau, and his staff members on practices in duty and tax calculation on 27 July 2015 at the ROCB A/P. Mr. Igarashi, as former Deputy Director for Passenger Processing at Japan Customs and Tariff Bureau, gave a through explanation on duty free allowances for air passengers and duty and tax calculationsby applying simplified duty rates.  He further explained to Mr. Chaiyut about the Customs clearance procedures for commercial cargo carried by air passengers.  

This ad-hoc meeting was meant to explore further streamlining options for passenger processing at Suvarnabhumi Airport, especially taxation of air passengers goods, in the wake of the Thai Customs Department’s decision to introduce credit card payment of Customs duties and taxes, which will be started on 1 September 2015.
