ROCB A/P contributes to the 25th WCO A/P Regional Contact Point Meeting

25th WCO A/P Regional Contact Point (RCP) Meeting was convened in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, which was attended by 47 representatives from 22 WCO Member administrations in the A/P region and 3 observer bodies (WCO, RILO A/P and ROCB A/P).  Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of ROCB A/P, attended the Meeting in the capacity of a permanent observer. 

 

In the wake of a welcome remarks by the Honorable Madam Nor Haziah Abd. Wahab, Acting Director of Customs, Cooperate Planning Division of the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), the Honorable Dato’ Sri Khazali bin Hj. Ahmad, Director general of the RMCD and WCO A/P Regional Vice-Chair, officiated the Meeting and delivered his keynote address.  The Meeting elected the Honorable Madam Nor Haziah Abd. Wahab of the RMCD as the chair of the Meeting.  Delegates and observers discussed couples of important subjects, such as Private Sector engagement at the Regional Heads Conference, Development of the Regional Strategic Plan for 2016-2018, Nomination process of the next Regional Vice-Chair, and the Terms of Reference of the RCP Meeting.

 

Mr. Igarashi contributed to the Meeting through reporting the ROCB A/P’s undertakings on one of the Focus Areas under the A/P Regional Strategic Plan as well as the summary of its activities in the year 2014/2015 and the concepts and topics of the annual capacity building work plan for 2015/2016.  He highlighted the ROCB A/P’s new initiatives on the Regional Workshop Follow-Up Action Survey, which is to take some snapshots of the effects accrued from the regional training programs delivered under the auspices of the WCO.  He also made a presentation on the capacity building support for optimizing the outcomes of the operational activities initiated in the A/P region, which was well received by the delegates. 

 

The Meeting concluded in a big success thanks to excellent jobs done by colleagues of the RMCD and Regional Vice-Chair’s Office.  ROCB A/P takes this opportunity to express its sincerest appreciation for their generous hospitality and superb management of this important regional gathering.
