WCO reaffirms enhancing collaboration with OCO

On 28 July 2016, at the invitation of the Oceania Customs Organization (OCO), the WCO Secretary General, Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, and Head of the WCO ROCB A/P, Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, visited the OCO Secretariat in Suva, Fiji.  Mr. Seve Paeniu, Head of the OCO Secretariat, and his colleagues warmly welcomed the visit of the WCO representatives.  WCO Secretary General appreciated the OCO for their continued collaboration with the WCO in capacity building delivery and outreaching of the WCO Instruments and tools in the Pacific region.  In particular, Secretary General welcomed this week’s collaboration for the consecutive organization of the sub-regional workshop on Single Window and the one on Integrity respectively through logistical coordination between the OCO and the ROCB A/P.  Mr. Paeniu of the OCO welcomed the Secretary General’s first visit to the OCO Secretariat and took this opportune occasion to give a briefing on the OCO’s policy and priorities to the WCO delegation and consulted way forward towards future collaboration based on the Memorandum of Understanding.  Both WCO and OCO reaffirmed continuation of close consultation and future collaboration for the sake of the Customs administrations in the Pacific region, complementing Fiji’s taking of the office of the WCO A/P Regional Vice Chair for the next 2 years and beyond.
