ROCB A/P Contribution Workshop on Effective Practices in Transnational Cooperation in the Border Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) in Thailand

Upon the invitation of the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), Mr. James Wong of WCO ROCB A/P attended, as a speaker and panelist, the Workshop on Effective Practices in Transnational Cooperation in the Border Enforcement of Intellectual Property Rights held in Bangkok, Thailand from 19 to 21 May 2014.
The workshop was jointly organized by the USPTO and the ASEAN Secretariat. Thirty-eight participants from various parties including 9 Customs administrations of ASEAN countries, China and the United States of America, attended the workshop.
The workshop was very successful and participants shared and exchanged practical knowledge and experience in fighting transnational illicit trade in particular counterfeit goods. WCO tools, such as the Risk Management Compendium, Interface Public Members (IPM) and trade mark recordation, Customs Enforcement Network (CEN), and anti-counterfeiting operations, were introduced during the workshop. The WCO contribution to anti-counterfeiting activities was appreciated.
