The Asian Development Bank (ADB) in cooperation with Nepal Customs organized the South Asia Sub-regional Cooperation (SASEC) Second Meeting of the Customs Subgroup in Kathmandu, Nepal on 22-23 May 2014. At the organizers invitation, Mr. Takayuki Miyoshi, CCF/Japan Operational Manager and Program Manager of the ROCB A/P for South Asia, joined the conference as a resource person.
The objectives of the Meeting were to: (i) discuss and agree on a Work Plan for 2014-2015 for the customs-related strategic thrusts of the SASEC Trade Facilitation Strategic Framework (TFSF); (ii) discuss and agree on national and regional capacity building programs for customs; and (iii) discuss and exchange views on a proposed study on electronic exchange of trade related documents between and among SASEC member countries.
At the request of the ADB, Mr. Takayuki Miyoshi presented the ROCB A/P’s Capacity Building program for SASEC member countries and shared his advice on how to implement the programs in a collaborative manner. His presentation was well received by the meeting organizer and the participants.
