ROCB A/P visits Customs Houses in Chiang Rai Province of Thailand

At the generous invitation of the Thai Customs Department (TCD), Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of the ROCB A/P, and his colleagues along with Bangkok-based JICA Expert and Korea Customs Attaché, visited Customs Houses in Chiang Rai Province of Thailand, which is located in so-called “Golden Triangle” for a study visit program organized by Mr. Paisal Chuenjit, Principal Advisor of the TCD, and the Thai Customs Academy.
In Chiang Rai Province, ROCB A/P and colleagues visited Chiang Khon Customs House which administers Thai-Lao border as well as international transport and trafficking along with the Mekong River, and heard a briefings on their work, which was followed by a vigorous exchange of views and thoughts on One Stop Service and use of data, for example. ROCB A/P staff members also visited border check points and observed CIQ facilities. At the Chiang Saen, ROCB A/P and colleagues visited the Chaing Saen Port, which is a river port connecting Thailand, Lao PDR, Union of Myanmar and China, and observed cargo loading onto a ship. At the Mae Sai Customs House, in the wake of a briefing session, ROCB A/P and colleagues visited land border with the Union of Myanmar. In the margin of these visits, ROCB A/P and colleagues visited several prominent temples in the Province and prayed for further flourish the TCD and local economy, as well as continued friendship among the field visits participants, including Mr. Chuenjit.
ROCB A/P appreciates Mr. Chuenjit, all of the colleagues of the TCD Headquarters, Chiang Rai Airport Customs, Chiang Khong Customs, Chiang Saen Customs and Mae Sai Customs for their kind arrangement and very warm hospitality provided before and during this field study visit, which provided the ROCB A/P and colleagues with lots of lessons learned from their local practices at the border check points as well as rich culture in the Chiang Rai Province.
