Joint WCO-UPU Customs-Post Workshop for AP region in Australia

The WCO and UPU jointly organized a Joint WCO-UPU Customs-Post Workshop for the Asia-Pacific Region from 1 to 5 May 2017 in Sydney, Australia, in cooperation with the ROCB A/P; the Australian Border Force; the Australia Post under the financial support of Customs Cooperation Fund of Korea(CCF/Korea) to support Asia-Pacific Customs and Posts to strengthen cooperation and the exchange of advance electronic information.
Over 100 participants representing Customs administrations and Postal operators from 30 countries of the Asia-Pacific Region participated in this workshop. Mr. Kangsik Cho and Ms. Jate-arpa Benjaphong of the ROCB A/P attended this workshop as resource persons.
Through this 5-day workshop, Customs and UPU participants had the opportunity to examine various ways to implement advance electronic exchange of information between Customs and Post by using the UPU’s Customs Declaration System(CDS) and /or other customized solution based on the joint WCO/UPU Customs-Post EDI messaging standards and the WCO Data Model and had an opportunity to share the 25 national experiences of existing Postal-Customs clearance and potential ways to improve it.
