1st WCO Global Mercator Program Advisor Workshop
19-23 June 2017, Brussels, Belgium
The first WCO Global Mercator Program Advisors (MPAs) Workshop was held on 19-23 June 2017 at the WCO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium, with a view to exploring way forward towards coherent and result-oriented delivery of the WCO’s Mercator Program Tailor-Made Track approach through networking MPAs and sharing their experiences in participating Mercator Program missions as well as updating the development of pertinent WCO tools and guidelines for the implementation of the WTO Trade Facilitation Agreement (TFA). A total of 19 MPAs from various WCO regions gathered and shared their experiences. Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of the ROCB A/P, took part in this first event of this kind as one of the fully accredited MPAs. On the last day of the WS, Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, WCO Secretary General, met MPAs and had a roundtable dialogue with the participating MPAs.
Mercator Program was launched in June 2015 at the WCO Council Session for the purpose of helping needed Member administrations implement the WTO TFA through mobilizing qualified experts and applying pertinent WCO tools and guidelines, including the Revised Kyoto Convention.
