FIATA 11th Region Asia/Pacific (RAP) Field Meeting

At the invitation of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA),Ms. Eva Suen of the ROCB A/P participated in and contributed to the 11th FIATA Region Asia/Pacific (RAP) Field Meeting held on 28 June 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand, in which about 100 representatives from 14 countries attended.
This was an annual meeting for the FIATA RAP members to discuss policy and technical matters pertaining to airfreight forwarders industry. Topics discussed at the meeting included the make-up project in Thailand, e-commerce, the readiness of digital platform in the industry and investment/business opportunity in the future. Use of Electronic Cargo Tracking Systems (ECTS) between Thailand and Indochina, as well as possible improvement of Logistics Business with Mobile Self-services were also discussed. Ms. Suen made a presentation of the WCO SAFE Framework of Standards, the AEO Compendium (2016) and the action plan for the joint pilot project on AEO–Regulated Agent/Known Consignor, which was initiated by Vietnam authorities in 2015. Representatives from the TRAFFIC, the Federation of Freight Forwarders Association in India (FFFAI), the Thai International Freight Forwarders Association (TIFFA) were also invited to speak about illicit trafficking in wildlife and discussed how the transport sector could manage associated risks.
