Japan Customs DDG visits the ROCB A/P

Mr. Sumiya Shibasaki, Deputy Director General of the Customs and Tariff Bureau (CTB) of the Ministry of Finance of Japan, visited the ROCB A/P on 4 June 2018, accompanied by Ms. Emako Hirabayashi, Deputy Director of International Cooperation Division of the CTB. Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of the ROCB A/P, and his colleagues warmly welcomed the Japanese delegation, and gave DDG a briefing on the ROCB A/P’s activities and the overview of the impacts of the regional capacity building programs, to which Japan provides significant contribution in various forms. He thanked for Japan Customs’ contribution and called for continued support. Mr. Shibasaki gave the ROCB A/P staffs his kind words of encouragement and assured continued support.
Taking this opportunity, Mr. Shibasaki visited so-called the “ROCB A/P”s trees” and was amazed how fast the trees have grown since they were planted on the occasion of the ROCB A/P’s 10th anniversary event held 4 years ago. He also visited WCO Security Project Office located within the premises of the Thai Customs Department, which is a base for the contracted experts to deliver technical assistance on counter-terrorism measures with funding provided by the Japanese government. After receiving a short explanation on their activities and pertinent challenges, on behalf of his government, Mr. Shibasaki stressed a great amount of importance being placed on this Program and highly appreciated their efforts and dedication to this end. Mr. Shibasaki visited the Thai Customs Museum, where he signed on a guest book.
