Bhutan Customs colleagues pay courtesy visit to the ROCB A/P
20 November 2018, Bangkok, Thailand
Bhutan Customs delegation headed by Mrs. Yeshey Seldon, Commission of Customs and Excise Division of the Department of Revenue and Customs, visited the ROCB A/P on 20 November 2018 on the occasion of their field visit trip to Thailand. Mr. Kazunari Igarashi, Head of the ROCB A/P, and his colleagues warmly welcomed the delegation. During the friendly conversation and talks, Mr. Igarashi complimented the Bhutan Customs delegation for a number of accomplishments made over the last a couple of years, including the accession to the WCO Revised Kyoto Convention and the revision of their national legislations to make their cross-border clearance procedures consistent with the international standards, as well as successful human resource development, such as accreditation to the WCO expert, which could showcase good modernization models and across-the-board commitment thereto by both headquarters management team and frontline officials. Mrs. Seldon and her colleagues expressed their administration’s gratitude for the continued support and technical cooperation provided by the WCO and the ROCB A/P and explained a couple of on-going initiatives in pushing forward the Bhutan Customs’ trade facilitation effort, including re-engineering of their cross-border process through enhanced automation. Their field visit to Thailand was to study the Thai Customs Department’s automation systems and learn good practices thereof. Complementarity between the WCO technical cooperation program and other development partners’ assistance programs was also briefly discussed.
