At the invitation of WWF Asia Pacific Counter-Illegal Wildlife Trade Hub, Mr. Norikazu Kuramoto, Head of the ROCB A/P attended the IWT internal online seminar "Understanding the Global Maritime Supply Chain and its links to the Illegal Wildlife Trade (IWT)" as a guest speaker.

Mr. Kuramoto delivered a speech at the beginning the seminar. In his remarks, he underlined that Customs plays a critical role at the national borders to facilitate legitimate trade with reasonable enforcement operation including illegal trafficking of wildlife. He also emphasized that Intelligence is a key and core in our enforcement operation at the frontlines as of today and Customs need to maintain and improve the enforcement function with updated the trend of illegal activities and its related information in a timely manner in collaboration with key counterparts namely Customs administration and RILO network of the WCO.

This seminar was organized and designed by Asia Pacific Counter-Illegal Wildlife Trade Hub for WWF and TRAFFIC staffs in Asia Pacific region for aiming to further understanding the core points of CITES and its environmental surrounding this issue.
