At the invitation of Mr. Tae-Sik Yoon, the Commissioner of the Korea Customs Service (KCS), Mr. Norikazu Kuramoto, the Head of ROCB A/P attended Korea Customs Week 2023 organized by KCS in Seoul, Korea.

Mr. Kuramoto participated the Seminar 2 “Leveraging Disruptive Technology for Customs Innovation: Big Data, AI, Blockchain, etc.” as a panelist. During this session, he shared his views on this topic and the current situation in Asia Pacific region as well as emphasized the importance of capacity building for developing countries to address.

He also shared the challenges and key issues to introduce Disruptive Technology, such as studying necessary information and its benefits, drawing strategies with strong political will, preparing and organizing accurate digital data, and having modernized Customs systems and functions in place and etc.

The theme of the event was “Global Customs Cooperation and Digital Customs” as a global event with delegations from 78 countries.
