On 29 May 2025, Mr. Juan Alfonso Lozano Basanta, Regional Coordinator for Asia and the Pacific from the European Commission's Humanitarian Aid Office (ECHO) paid a courtesy call on the Head of the ROCB A/P, Mr. Jun Tajima. He was welcomed along with Program Managers Mr. Jaemin Cho, Ms. Grace Ye, and Ms. Asuka Nagamatsu.

During the meeting, Mr. Alfonso provided an overview of ECHO’s humanitarian framework, including its coordination role in disaster response and humanitarian access across the region. He also introduced initiatives such as the IMPACCT program that ECHO financially supports, which aims to streamline Customs procedures in emergency situations.

Both sides exchanged views on potential areas of cooperation and discussed the way of aligning ECHO’s needs to the WCO’s Capacity Building policies.

The meeting concluded with a friendly atmosphere and agreed on continued dialogue.
