ROCB A/P joins the WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2017

Mr. Tong hua, Program Manager of the ROCB A/P, attended the WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2017 held from 7 to 9 June 2017 in Tbilisi, Georgia, under the theme “The Power of Data”.  More than 500 delegates from 80 countries gathered at the Biltmore Hotel Tbilisi to discuss highly topical and strategic issues related to the operational IT border management solutions while addressing the challenges and opportunities in the use of big data in their operations. Speakers for the Conference included representatives from the WCO, World Bank, United Nations Atomic Energy Agency, EU TAXUD, International Air Transport Association, International Road Transport Union (IRU), as well as representatives from the leading IT companies operating in Customs and transportation fields.

 

The Conference was opened by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance, Mr. Dimitri Kumsishvili. The participants of the conference were addressed by Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, WCO Secretary General, and Mr. Giorgi Tabuashvili, First Deputy Minister of Finance and Director General of the Georgian Revenue Service.  In three days, the speakers and delegates shared experiences and learn from each other through the exploration of high priority topics such as E-Commerce, Big Data and Predictive Analytics, Blockchain technology, Data Governance, Single Window and Integrated Supply Chain Management.  During the same period, another WCO IT Exhibition was organized at the same venue by the Revenue Service of the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and the WCO, which was attended by several leading companies and provided an interactive and communicative platform between technology solution provider and the Member delegates.
