ROCB A/P attends the WCO IT Conference and Exhibition 2018

Mr. Tong hua, Program Manager of the ROCB A/P, attended the WCO IT Conference and Exhibition (WCO ITC) 2018 held from 6 to 8 June 2018 in Lima, Peru. The WCO ITC discussed the various topics for “Building a Reliable Digital Landscape to Boost Cross-Border Trade”, the theme of this year’s Conference. More than 600 delegates from 75 countries gathered in Lima to discuss the cutting-edge technologies such as big data, artificial intelligence, blockchain and the Internet of Things(IoT) ,which can help Customs administrations to enhance smart capability, exchange information, identify high-risk goods and ensure facilitation of legitimate trade. This WCO IT Conference is being co-hosted by the Customs and Tax Administration of Peru (SUNAT), and with support from the Korea Customs Service and the Private Sector stakeholders.
The Conference was opened by National Superintendent of the SUNAT, Mr. Victor Shiguiyama. The participants of the conference were addressed by Dr. Kunio Mikuriya, WCO Secretary General, and Dr. Taeil Kang, Director General of Information and International Affairs Bureau of Korea Customs Service. In three days, the speakers and delegates shared experiences and learned from each other through the exploration of high priority topics such as Cross-Border E-Commerce, Big Data and Predictive Analytics, Blockchain technology, cybersecurity, Internet of Things, maritime IT environment, Single Window and Integrated Supply Chain Management. During the conference, the WCO announced official launching of the WCO Academy, which is aiming at building the Customs skills of current and future trade professionals, as well as further enhancing their work performance. This online platform provides representatives from the trade community and academia with access WCO e-learning courses, webinars, books and news.
