ROCB A/P Joined WCO Asia Pacific Plastic Waste Border (APPW) Management Conference

At the invitation, Ms. Pavida Boonmun, Assistant Program Manager, on the behalf of ROCB A/P, join the panel discussion on regional cooperation at the WCO Asia Pacific Plastic Waste Border (APPW) Management Conference which was organized and hosted online during 24^th – 25^th February 2022.

Ms. Pavida Boonmun discussed with other panelists from ASEAN Secretariat, APEC SCCP, UNESCAP, and RILO A/P on regional cooperation issue to prevent illegal trafficking of plastic waste. During the panel discussion, ROCB A/P highlighted the importance of the educating frontline officers about illegal plastic waste issues and its trend through in house training at Customs. Moreover, ROCB A/P reaffirmed to enhance data analytics and risk assessments capabilities for Customs authorities concerning the waste trade. ROCB A/P also introduced WCO Click! Platform which offering a course on data analytics and ROCB A/P planned to hold a regional workshop on data analytics in AP region to against illegal trade in plastic waste.

This Conference is within the framework of the Asia Pacific Plastic Waste (APPW) Project on the topic of plastic waste control and the implementation of the Basel Convention in the Asia Pacific region founded by the government of Japan.
