The WCO Middle Management Development (MMD) Train-the-Trainer Workshop for Asia Pacific members was held in Hong Kong China from 12-21 June sponsored by the Customs Cooperation Fund of China (CCF-China). From ROCB A/P, Ms. Zhengqing Ye, the Program Manager and Operation Manager of the CCF-China participated this workshop.

Ms. YE, the representative of the ROCB A/P, shared the updates related to her office’s capacity building activities. She highlighted the leading role of the ROCB A/P to provide technical assistance to the regional members based on their needs. Meanwhile, she also encouraged closer communication between the members and the ROCB A/P. She also actively joined this ToT workshop including group discussions and presentation sessions.

The MMD is the third core element of the WCO Leadership and Management Development (LMD) Programme. It is designed to offer support to Middle Managers by expanding their knowledge and understanding of modern management, by developing in them the appropriate behaviour and attitude of a modern manager and by equipping them with a set of fundamental skills necessary to manage themselves, teams, stakeholders and the organization on a daily basis.

Moreover, it is part of the philosophy that it is far more beneficial to create a critical mass of expertise in member administrations. It is to this end that, partnering with desiring administrations, the WCO provided the ToT WS to train more trainers to guide their home administrations’ middle managers in the modernization journey.

During the 8-day WS, all the participants acquired the requisite skills for the support of the implementation of the MMD training program at national and regional levels. They finalized themselves with the contents of the training modules and materials of the MMD in particular and increased the knowledge on best practices and modern training techniques.
