The 15th Capacity Building Committee was held from 21 to 23 February 2024. Over 300 delegates from Member administrations and stakeholders attended. Mr. Norikazu Kuramoto, Head of the ROCB A/P, and his colleagues also attended in person.
During the Committee, Mr. Kuramoto reported the outcome of the 19th Global Meeting of WCO Regional Entities and Council Vice Chair Offices (GMRE) as its chairperson. Mr. Jun Tajima, Program Manager of ROCB A/P, shared the Training Management Project to enhance training capabilities in the Asia Pacific region, aiming to support customs administrations in human resources development, particularly in training management. Through research, workshops, and the development of a compendium, the project seeks to gather good practices and offer guidance for improvement.
In addition, from the ROCB A/P’s experiences, Mr. Kuramoto made interventions during the Committee, namely at agenda 2: Panel Discussion on Sustaining Investment in our Future- Prioritizing Capacity Building and Nurturing Beneficial Partnerships, agenda 9: Gender Equality and Diversity, agenda 10: Expertise Mobilization, and agenda 14: The capacity building aspects of the WCO Green Customs Action Plan as its contributions.
Delegates actively shared their experiences and insights on the ongoing WCO activities during the Committee, including discussions on the way forward in WCO Performance Measurement Mechanism, national training strategy, staff well-being, etc.
